Triangular Temptation

Every now and then you come across an idea that is so simple, and yet so effective, that it is hard to believe that it hasn’t been done before.  At Revestir in Brazil, one of the country’s leading tile manufacturers, Portinari, exhibited one such concept.

The Connect collection won the Best in Show Award at Revestir.  Portinari’s stand created much entertainment with these triangular-shaped tiles, which people could move and place on a magnetic board to create different tile installations.  A clever video was shown on a loop to market this concept.  The magnetic board and video would make an arresting feature in any tile showroom.

A clever video showing hands re-arranging Connect tiles, was shown on a loop to market this concept.  This video, and the magnetic display, would make an arresting feature in any tile showroom.

The aim of the Connect collection is to make the interconnection of the different coloured pieces an integral part of the design process.  It works: awakening creativity, daring viewers to mix and to personalise.   With Connect, Portinari is saying, no two spaces will be alike.  Instead, each project will reflect the user’s personality and set their creative juices flowing through the creation of these totally original and contemporary spaces.

The 190 by 190mm triangular pieces are available in matt white, light grey and mid grey with a rounded stud surface, in a gloss steel stud, and white and blue gloss concentric square decors.  Like the marketing concept, this design is simple, but extremely effective.
