Castello from Cedit‘s Storie range, designed by Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto, has been named Best of the Best in the Red Dot Awards. Success in this top international competition, a year after the brand’s relaunch by Florim, follows earlier success in the NYCxDesign and Hospitality Design Awards.
Once again, this prestigious international design competition selected the most original, interesting products in terms of design and innovation from 54 countries. A jury of 40 experts assessed more than 5,500 products before awarding the major title to Storie’s Castello. Going forward, Castello will be on display at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen.
“Exactly a year ago, in the heart of Milan, we informed the international public of the rebirth of Cedit – Ceramiche d’Italia; a mission Florim has pursued with determination and passion, with the aim of enabling ceramics to serve art and design. The brand’s relaunch,” states Stefano Torrenti, Florim Ceramiche’s CEO, “has been based on a cultural project that aims to merge outstanding craftsmanship, technological innovation and Italian genius, to transform ceramic coverings into an authentic interior design work, pushing back the boundaries for the entire industry.”

One of six Cedit collections launched in 2016, Storie is the work of two young designers, Giorgia Zanellato and Daniele Bortotto, of Studio Zanellato Bortotto. The range recreates the effects of wear and layering to evoke the theme of the relentless passing of time on the surface of a ceramic covering.
