For all the tile lovers out there, here’s another reminder that there are only a few days to go until ICFF 2017 kicks off in New York City at the Javits Center (21st to 24th May).
If you are able to attend, Tile Addict would direct you to stand 1567 to explore SomerTile‘s exciting new product lines for 2017. These include some of the stunning new collections from leading Spanish manufacturer Peronda, which really caught the eye at Cevisama earlier in the year.
The Artesanal Alhambra 140 by 280mm wall tiles capture the intricate designs and traditional size of Moroccan Zellige. The hand-applied colours and other materials cause the vibrant colours and geometric motifs to blend, creating exceptional patterns and designs for any design theme. The beige outlines of these elegant designs are sunken, offering relief across the surface of each piece. Named after the iconic palace in Granada, Spain, these beautiful tiles offer chromatic intensity, gloss glazed finishes and multiple textures.
A take on the timeless subway tile, the Metro Soho Chevron gloss black porcelain tile offers a sleek, modern look. The elongated rhombus shape can be used in many patterns, making it a nifty choice for any installation. These black tiles come packaged as 5 left facing and 5 right facing tiles to help create these varying patterns.
Featuring compositions of painted woods faded by time, the Melvin Color 70 by 675mm porcelain floor and wall tiles have the rustic appearance of barn wood. These elongated planks feature a textured medium sheen finish in varying distressed colours, including shades of browns, greens and greys, with a meticulous wood grain effect. This tile also has subtle bumps and grooves that echo the texture of real wood. Designed by interior architect and furniture designer Francisco Segarra, this tile is a true reflection of vintage industrial design.
The Saja Nero 330 by 330mm ceramic floor and wall tile are inspired by the oxidized metallic moulds that were originally used to shape ceiling plaster moldings. Named after the Saja River in Spain, this tile features a black glaze that has a weathered look reminiscent of tin ceiling tiles. Again deigned by Francisco Segarra, this tile also offer an on-trend vintage industrial look.
Capturing the sun-drenched streets of Spain, Faenza Azul 330 by 300mm ceramic floor and wall tiles feature nine squares separated by scored grout lines to simplfy installation. Another Francisco Segarra design, the blue glaze surfaces features a collection of encaustic-inspired designs, with an authentic-looking aged effect. The scored grout lines can be filled with coloured grout, or left ungrouted for a rugged finish.
Mediterranean influences also radiate from the Bourges Arco 200 by 200mm ceramic wall tiles which have a watercolor off-white base glaze for a hand-made aura. A centered burnt orange flower is framed by the silhouette of a soft denim blue Moroccan lantern. Cornering sage flowers blend into the next tile, creating continuity throughout the installation. The hand-painted appearance of these designs provides great character, while the slight undulation of the surface reflects light, adding a further dimension to any installation.
Finally, imitating the uber cool erratic look of Trencadís, the Jazz Multi 285 by 285mm ceramic mosaic tile features a variety of small tile shards strategically placed on an interlocking mesh. Each chip features a different size, shape and colour, to create that much sought after one-of-a-kind look. This vitreous tile is suitable for kitchens, splashbacks and even fireplace facades.
