Crosscut Character

For the next few days I am going to concentrate on some recently launched ranges by Peronda.  As Tile Addict readers will be aware, I am a great admirer of this Spanish manufacturer.  As well as giving opportunity to young and talented designers, Peronda is also bold with its in-house designs, while at the same time offering highly commercial ranges for both domestic and contract applications.  From beach houses to hotels, restaurants to boutiques, there is something for everyone in the Peronda portfolio.

I am starting with Foresta Sawncut; a wood-effect range with bold texture, pattern and patina.  It was inspired by the work of Tom Raffield; the British craftsman who has earned a place in the panorama of international design by demonstrating that a 100% sustainable product can also be an on-trend product.

Foresta Sawncut picks up on the in vogue neo-rural look that reflects the growing demand for all things natural, green and earthy.   This directly translates into a return to wood, distressed furniture, simple colours and items with an aged look.

The Foresta Sawncut porcelain collection was directly inspired by Raffield’s work and by his use of elements taken directly from nature.  The original planks that formed the inspiration for this range were enhanced using natural dyes, with shades ranging from a deep red wine, to earthy tones and a hint of natural green moss.  The artisan treatment of the wood is boosted by the rough sawn process, which lends a powerful, rustic appearance.

All of these elements are transported to the Foresta Sawncut range.   It offers two colour options, both with very broad shade variation.  On the one hand there are warm and earthy hues, ranging from clay to coffee; while, on the other hand, there are cooler tones of grey and blue.  Overall the range has distinct and powerful character.  It is offered in a 200 by 1,225mm plank format, plus skirting pieces.
