On the peninsula of Sestri Levante, Italy, the Grand Hotel dei Castelli adorns the magnificent natural landscape of the park, where the green Mediterranean merges with the colours of the sea.

The Grand Hotel dei Castelli has 50 rooms, styled to complement the environment and furnished with elegant and antique furniture, with bathrooms in either the classic or the modern style.  This area of the hotel has been recently remodeled by Habitat Progetti, in a project managed by Alessandro Ghio.

Each bathroom has been decorated with tiles in different colours and formats; many of them from Pastorelli’s Opera collection.  Opera is a stone-effect full bodied porcelain stoneware range that is available in three 3 sizes: 600 by 600, 300 by 600 and 450 by 450mm.  The surface options in 600 by 600 and 300 by 600mm are natural, natural / rectified and polished rectified; while the 450 by 450mm formats is available in both natural and polished rectified. The range is offers decors both for floor and wall applications; plus bricks and mosaics.

Grand Hotel dei Castelli is situated on the peninsula of Sestri Levante, where green Mediterranean vegetation melts into the colours of the sea. Through the impressive portal created from the ancient town walls, guests get the impression of entering another time.

The castle’s history dates from 1089, when the Island of Sestri Levante became the domain of the Republic of Genoa.  To safeguard Sestri people from raids by pirates, the consuls of Genoa built the Castle in 1145. The island was turned into a citadel with access through four doors set into the walls. To increase the safety of the citadel were constructed two other Castles were constructed: the first in 1310 and the second, dell’Aquila, in 1440.

During WW2 the citadel was heavily bombed and razed to the ground, but, around 1950, the entire complex was rebuilt into a refined and luxurious hotel that still enchants guests to this day.
