Taipei, the capital of Taiwan, is the location of the luxurious Jade Residence residential centre, designed by architect Ke Hung Tsung and interior designer Yao Len Lu. The multi-storey building contains public areas – such as a lounge bar, poetry room and roof garden – as well as residential units. These communal spaces were designed to simplify daily life and provide residents with additional amenities.
The Zen vibe that pervades the communal areas was inspired by modern Chinese and Japanese style. To create these elegant, contemporary interiors, the designers used a skilful mix of tiles from Marazzi. The result is a set of calm, comfortable spaces featuring tactile materials such as designs from the stone-effect Mystone porcelain range (Pietra di Vals, Gris Fleury, Pietra Italia); all realistic interpretations of natural stone combined with high end ceramic performance. The Mystone range is ideal for indoor and outdoor use, in residential or heavy-use commercial settings. What’s more, its different structures and extra-thick tiles allow seamless installation between indoors and out.
For the poetry room, 600 by 600mm Pietra di Vals Antracite from the Mystone range was combined with the warmth of Treverkcharme wood-effect porcelain tiles, installed in a herringbone pattern.
The project does not only use stone-effect materials: the Jade Residence’s designers also opted for the warmth of wood-effect stoneware, choosing not only Treverkcharme but also Marazzi’s Treverkchic and Treverkmood collections.
With its hand-crafted, creative look, Treverkchic is inspired by the material’s natural beauty and is ideal for use on the floors of residential interiors such as living-rooms, kitchens, bathrooms and bedrooms, as well as light commercial applications. The designers decided to mix two different tactile effects in the building’s foyer, combining Mystone Pietra Italia with Treverkchic plank tiles in Noce Italiano colour.
Treverkmood is inspired by salvaged materials, such as the surfaces of vintage furniture, creating a highly original overall effect, with the pronounced variations in shading typical of old wood, which only grows more beautiful with age. In this project, Treverkmood wood-effect porcelain tiles were installed in a coffered layout in combination with concrete-effect tiles from the Block collection in a 750 by 750mm format, for an original mix and match look.
The key material in the garden is Mystone Gris Fleury20 extra-thick stoneware; an ideal surface for outdoor and high-stress indoor areas.
The swimming-pool and changing-rooms were also finished with Marazzi stoneware tiles. The bottom of the pool, in Treverkchic wood-effect stoneware, dialogues with the Evolutionmarble Calacatta Lux marble-effect material used to finish the mirror pillars; while bisque terracotta-effect brick tiles in a 150 by 300mm format, were chosen for the changing-room floors.
