I thought I’d take Tile Addict mainstream and highly commercial with this latest report from Cevisama. You might think that there is nothing new to say about marble-effect tiles. However modern production techniques, notably digital inkjet, allied to rotary printing and sinking inks can, when handled with real skill, deliver quite exceptional tiles, offering a depth of design and subtlety of detailing that moves beyond mere imitation into a whole new sphere of design.
So, today, I am shining the spotlight on one of Spain’s foremost tile manufacturers, Saloni, and the Olympos collection. This offers 300 by 900mm white bodied wall tiles and 450 by 900mm porcelain through-coloured wall/floor tiles, to create a suite of well-proportioned pieces and classical patterns.
Striking marble effects are the starring features and central elements of Olympos. This new range offers a contemporary ceramic reinterpretation of marble’s chromatic range, with matt, gloss and stressed finishes, different decorative graphics and subtle surface effects all designed down to the millimetre to produce a hyper natural effect. It is clear that Saloni has fully harnessed every possible modern production technique to deliver a modern collection that, while inspired by a very classical material, emerges as a perfect design for spaces with many different styles.
