If there was one thing I particularly enjoyed about Cevisama, it was the sense of fun conveyed by so many of the new wall tile ranges.  During the years when modern minimalism held sway, the tile sector just got a bit too grown up and serious for my taste.  While there was much to admire in the neutral palettes and emphasis on texture, the current revival of small format tiles, shapes, 3D forms and colour certainly adds a level of exuberance that has been sorely missing of late.

One stand that really seemed to capture this mood was Cevica. Good Vibes, a 140 by 160mm hexagonal range created by French designer Pascal Turbe, offered a very attractive palette that featured strong colour contrasts, with trendy green tones set against intense blue-blacks.  The graphics have the strength and passion of African fabrics.  And this, along with the thick profiles, delivers a powerful personality.

Good Vibes is produced in six plain colours and seven decors that are offered individually or mixed as a patchwork.  The range is suitable for both floor and wall application, including tiles with an R10 antislip rating that are perfect for commercial applications.

Jazz is Cevica’s take on the fish-scale trend.  With this 150 by 135mm form, Cevica wanted to reinterpret this traditional Moroccan-inspired tile using soft tones and delicate decorative designs.  And it works, with this new format offering interior designers and home owners new opportunities to explore creative tile installation.  For wall use only, this range has seven plain colours and 13 different designs, that are available as a mix or as singles.

Cevica’s passion for intense colours also shines through in a range of 16 new pastel colours created to complement the Antic Matt range.  The finish is a pleasing satin matt, perfect for kitchens and bathrooms.  The explosive mixture of greens, blues, pinks and yellows will surely catch the attention of many of today’s top interior designers.
