The Metro tile has been one of the enduring classics of global wall tile design for decades. Leading multiple retailers, like Topps Tiles, report that it remains one of the customer’s favourites.  And today, as small formats once again move centre stage, the Metro tiles is undergoing a resurgence of interest.  We are now seeing Maxi Metro, Mini Metros, and many new imaginings of this classic design, such as Colorker’s stunning Metropolitan range, covered recently in Tile Addict.

One of the most versatile and beautiful ranges currently on the market hails from Italy in the form of Etruria Design’s Art Deco range. Art Décor is a traditional double-fired glazed range, with the wall tiles co-ordinating with glazed porcelain floor tiles.   There are two main wall tile designs: flat and vector framed. Added versatility is provided by special pieces such as frames, skirtings, coves, and bullnoses.

If Etruria Design is a new name to Tile Addict readers, the company used to known as Antica Fornace.  This was not only the company’s original moniker but sums up the underlying product concept, highlighting a production methodology that fuses craftsmanship with classic ceramic tradition.

Etruria Design’s portfolio plays with two of the key variables of tile design: shape and colour.  Working on this idea over the years, Etruria Design’s product range has grown to meet most modern design needs, often underpinned by a wide variety of special pieces.  At Etruria Design, the term ‘design’ conveys both the intrinsic concept of unique and functional beauty, but also a vision of the world and work that develops through the wider and freer use of shape, colour and surface.

Etruria Design offers a rich and versatile range of 3D wall tiles in a variety of colours, shapes and graphic lines. These have been developed through two distinct decorative concepts: the stricter, more refined Victoria collection, and the Art Déco collection, which is centred on a reappraisal of this decorative retro style.
