I return to one of my favourite topics in today’s Tile Addict: tiles in restaurants.  I really like the atmosphere that has been created here: a great example of intelligent and effective use of the distressed finishes and fresh colours that have been such a feature of international tile shows in the past few years.  Plus, here’s a XXL tile format working well in a relatively compact space, something that some industry commentators seem to believe to be all but impossible to pull off.

Situated in a beautiful corner of the Italian city of Turin, between the River Po and the Gran Madre, Ristorante Papo offers its diners an appealing blend of culinary innovation and a welcoming ambience.  But this establishment, above all, focuses on quality: something that was carried through into its interior with the specification of tiles by Ceramiche Caesar for the restaurant’s floors

The inspiration for the decor came from the restaurant’s catchphrase “The taste of the sea in the centre of Turin.” This provided the starting point of the choice of materials used. Trace, a range of porcelain stoneware tiles, was selected for the floors. In its Mint colour, Trace harmonises perfectly with the location’s atmosphere, with the unusual chromatic effects bringing to mind a stormy sea.

The 1,200 by 1,200mm large format also amplifies the sensation of depth and space. This winning look is combined with exceptional technological performance: durable, water-proof, and ease-to-clean, this material is perfect for a restaurant environment.
