The future now looks different for this Grade II listed building. Once left derelict and dilapidated, it has had the life breathed back into it by the folks from Rarebreed. This team of friends sought out Quadrant Design to reform it into “a sanctuary of good food, world-class drinks, and great company”.
Their aim was to restore the property to its original open and industrial format within which they would provide a multi-level dining and hospitality experience, complete with cocktail bar and member’s lounge. The building had previously been split into several rooms, altering the original layout and varying greatly in design from wood to large stone slabs. The challenge was to find a solution to help bring together the varied floor finishes now present in the space.
The final decision was the inclusion of coloured tiles from Solus Ceramics‘ Travertine 1 collection. The colours were chosen with the intention of marrying various finishes together, adding something new and bold to the mix, and complementing the furnishing specifications.
The bespoke design was realised by Solus’ tile fabrication department at their HQ in Birmingham using full-sized 300x600mm tiles, cut down to 150x600mm strips.
