Painting tiles without painting tiles

Last month we dedicated a week to sharing three wonderful, distinct artists. And now we’re doing it again. Today’s artist, Rachael Tarravechia, hails from NYC and has a knack for painting tiles. But when I say painting tiles I don’t mean decorating tiles themselves, I mean painting tiles like the fabulous Adriana Varejรฃo paints tiles.

Intensely colourful spaces fill Tarravechia’s canvases, each displaying empty rooms recently vacated and lovingly lived in. And for Tile Addicts, the blessing of her works is that many of them feature tile. Vintage sinks with coloured backsplashes, mosaic floors, and funky bathtubs are all here.

Hot pinks are the focus of many scenes, with bold toilets, towels, or sofas each adding a punchy detail. There is a rich, warm haze about each painting that is immensely comforting and filled with personality. Fabulously designed kitchens, bathrooms, bedrooms, and living spaces demonstrate her stylish eye with her clear love for tile gracing each artwork.

Playful, joyful, vibrant, and dripping with youthful, retro style, these artworks are some to remember.
