Kaleidoscopic Crinson

The tile world has not been the same since innovative artist Dominic Crinson began making his mark in 1998. These days digitally printing tiles to create intricate and unimaginable designs is fairly standard practice, but 20 years ago things were rather different. In 1997 Crinson first developed his digital printing method, enabling a dramatic shift within the ceramic tile industry. His work not only made … Continue reading Kaleidoscopic Crinson

Colourful Codicer

The Codicer 95 stand at Cersaie was one of Tile Addict’s favourites. It stood out completely from the crowd with the wacky and colourful designs and made such an impact that it deserves it’s own article entirely. There are only a few main collections that will be covered here, although they are by no means the only designs worth mentioning. The first to catch our … Continue reading Colourful Codicer

Cersaie Curiosities V

This year’s Cersaie has given us so much to talk about from so many different companies – a delightfully eclectic mix of patterns, trends, and textures. And luckily, there is still more to share. The earthy Techland collection from Natucer added a vibrant warmth to the stand that was hard to miss. A variety of shapes, formats, and surface decors in Fire, Basalt, and Natural … Continue reading Cersaie Curiosities V

Cersaie Curiosities IV

Tile Addict isn’t done with the wonderful Cersaie discoveries just yet, there is still plenty to come! Wall&Decò‘s textured and colourful designs drew us in, especially the art deco crossover feel of Cabinet de Curiosite, but it was the unique features of their range that are most worth a mention. Their Wet System is a patented coating technology that enables warterproofing and protection for humid … Continue reading Cersaie Curiosities IV

Cersaie Curiosities

We have covered many of the main trends and styles that caught Tile Addict’s eye at Cersaie, but there were many, many more special and intruguing works that have not yet received a mention. Firstly, this range from leftfield by Novoceram – Kawaii. A Japanese inspired collection of cartoon decor tiles featuring Kawaii characters was definitely an unexpected find. This bright and lively ceramic wallpaper … Continue reading Cersaie Curiosities

Trending: Tropical

In August we took a look at the tile world’s tropical offerings and this year at Cersaie company after company were incorporating jungle print into their collections. A large range of interpretations of the theme were presented, some with a focus on bright colourful flora and fauna, some incorporating textures and metallics, and some taking a very subtle approach. Over the next two posts, we … Continue reading Trending: Tropical

Qwerty Mosaics

There’s a wonderful movement in the art world. Mosaics have been breaking out of their ceramic hold for a while, but now there’s a whole new branch to explore. There seems to be no better name for it than the Qwerty Mosaics which were brought to Tile Addict’s attention by none other than mosaic master Gary Drostle. Multiple artists have taken advantage of the raft … Continue reading Qwerty Mosaics

Cartoon Collaboration

As part of the Living With Art exhibition at Albion Barn, British artist and designer Richard Woods created a fantastical swimming pool using his iconic ‘wood’ pattern on ceramic tiles. The ‘wooden’ swimming pool is made up of large format porcelain tiles, each custom-printed with a woodgrain effect in a block print style. The heavily stylized cartoon-like wooden plank design is a signature of this London-based artist. Continue reading Cartoon Collaboration

Indigo by Novoceram

Sacré Bleu: Novoceram’s Mood Indigo

When they first order Indigo, Novoceram’s customers will find that fate selects the contents of the collection’s boxes. Some will have a few more Little Red Riding Hoods and a fewer bespectacled dogs, but the final effect will always be perfect. And it is precisely this random distribution that makes each and every Indigo composition unique. Continue reading Sacré Bleu: Novoceram’s Mood Indigo
