Vaulted Valediction

Close to 20,000 hand-made ceramic tiles were used during the construction of the vaulted Mortuary Chapel for the Soriano-Manzanet family in Villarea, Spain, once tests had been carried out to determine the appropriate type of clay and firing regime. Wowing with Waterjet

Approximately 15,000 sq. feet of waterjet-cut natural stone was specified for Mohegan Sun’s flooring. This included beautiful selections of Royal Red Onyx, Jerusalem Gold, Emperador Light, St Laurent Brown, Thassos White, and Nero Marquina. Opus Motus by Raffaello Galiotto and Lithos Design.

Mosaics in Motion

Opus Motus was created by Raffaello Galiotto in conjunction with Lithos Design. It comprised six colourful mechanical spinning tops featuring an inlaid marble circle. When activated by a lever, these vertically-mounted tops begin to spin progressively faster. As this happens, the natural colours merge together, amalgamating and forming new and surprising shades. The net effect is an explosion of colours and shapes that reveal unique and surprising optical effects to onlookers. Continue reading Mosaics in Motion
