Studio Vetro

With glistening beginnings in 2001, Studio Vetro – then Vetro Designer – started off as a producer of glass tiles. Following the global tastes and trends, Studio Petro began to pivot in 2014, redirecting their energy into ceramic tiles and establishing a selection of customisable designs made in collaboration with Brazilian creatives such as Marina De Nadai, Ana Paula Castro, and Paulo Niemeyer, the grandson of renowned architect Oscar Niemeyer).

Each collection forges its own path, utilising simple shapes to elegant effect, adding visual texture for intrigue, and including playful details like text, creatures, and people to add charming character and personality.

In Silhouettes by Marina De Nadai, figures and bags based on “Mr. Jorge, who was sitting reading in front of the Greek Parliament in Athens; Madalena, photographed on a trip to Portugal, in front of the Casa da Música, a building designed by architect Rem Koolhaas; and the Namoradeiros, a couple enjoying a beach in Paraty” show a snapshot of life, wandering and pondering.

Agua draws from the water, with waves, fish, shells, and turtles forming a patchwork. Alba represents the sunrise, with cresting lines mimicking the dawning light.

Flowers form the dainty details of the Love Me collection whilst classic geometrics make up Hexagonal. Whether incorporating art, unique styles, or a simple repeat motif, Studio Vetro are worth a look.
