Tile Trends Summer 2020

Due to the slow-down of industry and the cancellation of Coverings, and now Cersaie, tile trends are harder to spot. In Feburary we offered Tile Addict’s take on Cevisama, detailing the most notable trends seen throughout the show, with an additional three that were present but slightly less prolific – the patterns and colour palette of 70s retro, 3D tiles with a woven and panelled … Continue reading Tile Trends Summer 2020

Hot and Cold with 70s Retro

There were a few trends around Cevisama that didn’t make it to the big list, but they’re still worth a mention. Florals didn’t stop at quaint and delicate or bold and tropical, for many companies they simply went hand-in-hand with their retro revival designs. Exaggerated curves and cartoonish shapes paired with earthy browns, yellows, pinks, oranges, greys, and blues to create a 70s style. Continue reading Hot and Cold with 70s Retro

Going for Grey

Nobody did grey quite like Azuvi whose entire stand showcased their signature stylish neutrals in range after range of textured grey surfaces such as Montana Grey, Valley Light Grey, and Dexa Dark Grey. But it wasn’t just neutral natural stone looks that Cevisama had in spades as an overwhelming amount of companies presented delightful designs and patchwork patterns in an assortment of styles and a … Continue reading Going for Grey

A Decade in Colour II

A rich take on hope, growth, and freshness was offered with Pantone’s 2013 shade Emerald. Much like 2010’s Turquoise, this natural stone inspired colour has long been present in building and decor. It was chosen to counteract our complex world, as Executive Director of the Pantone Colour Institute stated “Symbolically, Emerald brings a sense of clarity, renewal and rejuvenation”. The green shade also fell in … Continue reading A Decade in Colour II

A Decade in Colour I

Last year we made a point of highlighting the importance of colour as it was warmly welcomed back into the design world. It was exciting to see the ways companies interpreted and utilised the new-found passion for pigment, from the varied use of Pantone‘s Living Coral, to the plentiful display of pastels, to the vivacious and vibrant Cersaie stand of Francesco de Maio. Pretty Pastels

The bold colour trend of the year has definitely not disappeared, however some companies have preferred to take a gentler approach. Incorporating pastels in a range of ways, these soft collections add a graceful air to interiors. Fabresa is using pastels in a variety of ways throughout their collections, from the watercolour look purples and greys of Vita and delicately coloured Spatule, to one collection … Continue reading Pretty Pastels

Deco Tayberry for 2020

In keeping with the tile world’s take on Pantone’s Colour of the Year – muted and dusty pinks used in place of the bright and lively Living Coral – Original Style‘s Tile of the Year is a mixture of soft pinks and berry tones. Deco Tayberry was selected for the 2020 honour in a combined effort from Original Style and interior designers 2LG Studio. Continue reading Deco Tayberry for 2020

Colouration, Colouration, Colouration!

Increasingly cropping up in interior style last year, this 2019 trend isn’t shying away. Bold, lively use of colour is here to party. Both interior design and the fashion world have warmly welcomed colour back into the fold, with the former shirking classic neutrals in favour of something a little more fun, and the latter recalling the colour-blocking style from 2011.
