This month it’s all about unique companies and creatives in the tile world – those with a penchant for personality and a way with whimsy. Leading the charge is Atelier Champagne – a Montreal-based treasure trove of handcrafted tiles, installations, and unique ceramic pieces founded by Marilyn Champagne in 2023.
The collections of Atelier Champagne – Collection 01, Collection 02 – Natural, and Collection 03 – Relief – each offer a distinct flavour of tiling beauty. With Collection 01 white stoneware tiles in a glossy or satin finish are created in a unique palette of colours. Each piece is handmade, forming finished products rich in personality.
Collection 02 draws on the raw beauty of unglazed, low- and high-fired tiles. Made with a variety of stoneware and earthenware, the material of each tile is selected for their bare loveliness and the unique visuals they create.
Collection 03 plays with multiple dimensions, exploring shapes and textures made either through extrusion or moulds. Colours for Collection 03 are carried through from Collection 01 for cohesive looks.
A recent collaboration with boutique and gallery Bref resulted in a joyful selection of bubble letters and ceramic coasters featuring everyday objects in vibrant shades, adding an extra dose of whimsy to the world of Atelier Champagne.
