The trending colours of 2026

Every year we dive deep into the minds of trend ‘experts’ to predict and anticipate the big hitters for the months ahead. Themes, such as this year’s obsession with all things brown and edible (see Pantone’s Mocha Mousse, C2’s Raku, and Little Greene’s Mochi) or 2024’s love for light blue (see here), always appear. So what’s on the agenda for 2026?

Before getting into the actual Colours of the Year I’m going to cover the predictions from across the interior design world which, as you will see, are pretty broad and random. To keep things simple, I’ve organised them all into little bitesized groups

Creative Carnival

Predicated to add an eclectic edge to interiors throughout 2026, vibrant shades like magenta, mustard, and fire red are coming in hot on the heels of dopamine decor. Perfect for injecting even the smallest taste of drama, these creative carnival colours lend a lively hand to any home.

Pastel Me About It

Despite what the haters think, some folk aren’t willing to part with their pastels just yet. With sky blues, powdery pink, and light lavender shades still offering playful twists on neutrals, it’s predicted that there’s plenty of space for pastels in 2026.

Cottage Colours

With subtle nods to nature and a cosy country vibe, a small selection of cottage colours is offering chilled homeliness for the year ahead. Shades of green like light teal, brushed olive, and pistachio, as well as creamy whites set the scene for a fresh, comfy home.

Earth Gem

Rich, warm variations on purple and clay create the intensely comforting Earth Gem palette. Shades of plum, dusty rose, terracotta, and deep chocolate browns mix together to form a striking, characterful space.

Steampunk Shades

Seeking style inspiration from both the past and future, Steampunk blends 19th century industrial design with modern sci-fi dreams. Moody metallic shades and midnight blacks offer the whimsical darkness of Steampunk whilst intense electric blues and acid greens add a pop of playful colour.
