Osmos by Refin is an innovative interpretation of concrete, where precious marks are stratified and give life to an organic graphic design, both deep and textural, which conveys a surprising hybrid effect. The collection is visually rich and particularly detailed on closer viewing, featuring a surface marked by marble veining, mineral inclusions, and elements of nature.
The wide and versatile range lends itself to an extensive variety of segments and styles, for contemporary contract, retail, or residential projects with a post-industrial aesthetic.
The five shades make up a complete palette. Calce is a soft white. Cenere and Nebbia are two cool greys. Tortora greige, and the most saturated shade, Ruggine, are both warm hues. The 1,200 by 1,200, 600 by 1,200, 800 by 800, 600 by 600 and 300 by 600mm formats are available in Matt finish in all colours. The 1,200 by 1,200 and 600 by 1,200mm formats are also available in C2 Grip in Calce, Nebbia and Tortora. Osmos thus allows designers to create in&out continuity.
A landscape of silent architecture, apparently immobile in time, where nature insinuates itself in concrete, contaminating it with erosion, sediment, granules, and infiltrations which gradually solidify and transform the material, regenerating it into a new aesthetic. Mineral veins of quartz and marble emerge from the fractures – contaminations which take on a poetic dimension, like precious marks. A living material which comes from the past before being reborn and beautified, providing a conceptual and sensory account.
Osmos expresses the charm of imperfections, a cutting-edge offering born of our laboratory’s aesthetic and technological research. The result reinterprets concrete through a contemporary design language, turning it into a deeply hybrid and organic material which narrates a story.
Refin’s development process started out from the initial suggestion to select and rework numerous images, which led to the creation of a totally innovative version of concrete. Subsequent phases of interpolation, recomposition, and graphic design harmonisation led to the creation of an original product, which remains balanced and consistent in order to offer great design versatility.
Concrete comes to life thanks to the strength of nature which gradually infiltrates it and solidifies, combining with the effects of time and the elements: inclusions, micro-granules, small fractures overlapping and giving rise to minor colour shading, describing a process of metamorphosis. Delicate marble and quartz veining emerges from the neutral, dense background, with light nuances, colour variations and opaque darkening which make the colour changing and dynamic.
Inspired by a structural grid blossoming on the surface, the Trame decoration is not just a decorative element but enhances the intrinsic quality of Osmos itself. The adopted technology enables the generation of surface three- dimensionality through the controlled application of minimal material quantities: the irregular geometric grid creates a slightly rough relief that allows an authentic and genuinely perceptible texture to be obtained. Available in 600 by 1,200mm, Trame is suitable for installation on both walls and floors.
Thanks to its strong 3D effect, Ribbed brings out the depth of the graphic design, creating more attenuated interplays of light and shadow or contrasts. The scoring at irregular distances makes wall tile installations dynamic, setting up dialog with light, generating evocative shadows and alternating shades which enhance the nature of the material.
