Creative Company Duo

Today we’re sharing two branches of the same creative family tree – StoneImpressions and Livden. The story of StoneImpressions began almost three decades ago in a makeshift studio where Melinda Earl transformed simple natural stone into patterned beauties using a patented process.

Textured stone and the irregular patterns created by veining and tonal variation create an enticing background for the orderly and finessed designs printed over the top. These uniquely decorative surfaces offer up the best of two worlds – the organic beauty of natural materials and the charming imperfection of an artisan’s hand.

But if one innovative company isn’t enough, Earl’s daughters Georgie and Hilary have added to the family roster. After working as a unit for StoneImpressions the need for sustainable and eco-conscious design became more apparent and Livden was born.

The plan: to utilise post-consumer waste within an innovative and enticing collection of tiles. Using their complementary skill sets, Georgie (marketer) and Hilary (designer) set about creating a green and unique selection of decorative tiles.

Their Polar Ice Terrazzo tiles are made from 65-66% post-consumer recycled materials and Ivory Porcelain tiles are made from recycled porcelain. All tiles are made in the USA where they work with manufacturers who share in their sustainability ethos.
