A fantastic display of depth and light play is present at the GranitiFiandre headquarters in Castellarano. Designed by Archea Associati, the main entrance is split in two using Fiandre’s strong, lightweight, large format, porcelain stoneware Marmi Maximum tiles in both Pietra Grey and Premium White.
This split is imitated in the ceiling, with a large central piece that spills light from both sides giving it a darkened shadowed appearance. The reflected light that falls onto the Pietra Grey walls softens the distinction between wall and ceiling. The suspended, sunken lights over the waiting areas enhance this effect, providing more variation in light and shadow. The room looks extremely spacious yet this light play on the walls gives the illusion of a lower ceiling. Meanwhile the darkened sides not only direct the eye to the front desk, but also bring the walls closer together giving warmth to this wide-open space; welcoming visitors while effortlessly displaying the company’s elegance.
The tiles themselves are stunning imitations of marble with unique veins and intricate details. They not only make for the perfect floor and wall covering but, due to their large format and smooth, unbroken surfaces, they are also suitable for other interior elements such as kitchen counter tops, tables, seating, and even sliding doors.
The veining really comes into its own in the stairway, where the steps look carved straight from a slab. The lines that follow effortlessly from one another give this classy space a touch of the organic, which is further enhanced by the satin finish. The design is uniform as the depth and light play continues down the stairwell with the mirrored riser peeking underneath the thick tread as the clean white walls and dark banisters cut clean lines throughout.
The Marmi Maximum tiles are ultra thin at 6mm and have a maximum size of 3,000 by 1,500mm. They come in five sizes (1,500 by 1,500mm, 1,500 by 750mm, 750 by 375mm, 750 by 750mm, and 1,000 by 1,500mm) and two finishes, bright and satin. They can be custom-made for a whole range of uses, making them a designer’s dream. Their non-absorbency, strength, and easy-to-clean nature make them perfect for the home or for commercial spaces.
