Oasis, Zing, and Starburst

Finding tile companies is always a joy, exploring ranges, patterns, design, shapes, and relief and finding the fun and fabulous ways creatives are taking advantage of tile to produce incredible surface solutions.

Today we’ll be taking a look at three ranges from Rookwood, a company founded in 1880 by Maria Longworth-Nichols. Based in Cincinnati, Ohio Rookwood’s team of highly skilled artisans produce a huge range of ceramic delights for the home, from dinner plates, to candlesticks, and from vases to house numbers.

The Emilia Collection

Amongst their collections also sit a fantastic array of tiles. There are a great many we could cover today including standard metros and intricate relief designs. But it is the shapes we will focus on for now – three collections featuring a unique use of curves to create wonderfully enticing tiles.

The Oasis collection takes a standard format and transforms it into something special with the use of delicate waves, adding movement and softness. Available in sizes 12″ by 3″ and 1.75″ by 6″, the tile sizes can be combined to produce and even more unique look that can be polished off with the use of the Oasis Classic or Oasis Ripple liner.

Rookwood’s Zing tile is a fun curly-swirly little tile that adds immediate character to walls. These 7″ by 7″ pieces are perfect for bright colours, emphasising their playfulness, but work equally well in neutrals, allowing the shape to decorate by itself.

The Starburst collection is simply lovely, using gentle curves for an organic look. Starburst and Starburst Petite (7.75″ by 7.75″ and 3″ by 3″) can be combined together, creating a beautiful pattern. Or for something even more showstopping, Rookwood’s Starburst Ripple adds a 3D relief element that can really make the designs pop.
