Osso & Bottone

Alert! A new grout-centric tile duo from Ronan Bouroullec has entered the design world. Mutina‘s Otto & Bottone each feature distinctive recessed cutouts creating highly decorative details that emphasise grout.

Osso’s subtle curved edge forms a sleek, delicate visual in both an elongated 30 by 275mm (S) and a stubbier 75 by 231mm (L). The dented sides produce a stylish wave where pockets of coloured grout peep through and add dimension and shadow play.

By contrast, Bottone is shaped by an ordered strip of cutout buttons that line the borders of each tile’s length. The two sizes – 30 by 275mm (S) and 75 by 320mm (L) – produce vastly different looks with one as a fine matchstick and the other a sturdy brick.

Both designs come in five soft tones (Sabbia, Grigio, Rosso, Blu, and Verde) created from a mixture of coloured earth and ceramic. Their highly textured rough finish reflects their primary design function of surfacing exteriors, but its organic nature is equally at home in interior spaces.
