It has been four whole years since we last listed some of the world’s most wonderfully tiled restaurant interiors so it’s high time we shared some more!
1. Lina Stores in South Kensington, UK
Retro chic with the flair of a traditional Roman/Milanese espresso bar, Lina Stores in South Kensington brings a taste of Italy to London. Designers North End Design added a black and white terrazzo chequerboard floor and creamy textured tiles to the wrap-around bar for a cosy contrast against the pale minty walls and warm wood accents.
2. Biggy in Wroclaw, Poland
Inspired by 90s American street culture, the designers at Buck Studio brought bold colour and sports mesh stylings to pizza restaurant Biggy. Colour-blocked in tiles and contrasting grout, this playful space packs a punch.
3. Buvette Daphnée in Ottowa, Canada
Retro diners are reimagined by Montreal-based Ivy Studio for wine bar and fine dining restaurant Buvette Daphnée in Ottowa. An energetic mosaic covers the floor in tones reflected by the seating and cosy tones of the exposed brick whilst the bar and kickboards present an elegant pairing of multi-tonal earthy metros and simple white squares.
4. Nightingale in London, UK
A tasteful melange of pastel green tones add an ethereal air from the bottom up in this London restaurant designed by Tutto Bene. Made to reference Viennese coffee houses, an opulent essence is afforded by the folded ceiling fans, floor to ceiling curtains, and creamy walls.
5. Los Alexis in Mexico City, Mexico
Topped and tailed in trencadis taco bar Los Alexis’ sea of cracked white ceramics is broken only by a bright green bar and rough industrial concrete ceiling. The heavily industrial vibe created by designers RA! is tempered by the glittering walls and floors and a gorgeous green grout that ties the space together.
