It is our absolute delight to add yet another unforgetable artist to our internal database of creatives creating with a flair for tile. Like the bold and beautiful interiors of Rachael Tarravechia, or the moody monochromes of Adriana Varejão, English artist Frances Featherstone brings the wonder of tile to canvas.

In an incredible series featuring one of life’s most lovely and mundane activities – reading in bed – Featherstone captivates with a cosy nest of wrinkled bedding and a sensational strip of patterned tiles. Expertly curated aesthetics see delft tiles paired with sky blue sheets, vintage Portuguese florals with sunny yellows and breakfast in bed, and endless blue stripes from floor, to duvet, to pyjamas.

Vintage Victorian encaustic patterns sit beside a sleepy cup of tea, Moroccan motifs match with textiles from around the world, and simple geometrics are mirrored in wrinkled blankets.

As well as these gorgeously ethereal bedroom scenes, tiles feature on floors throughout her realist snapshots of life, adding layers of beauty and unmissable magic.
