Trends here to stay (forever)

The styles, colours, patterns, and aesthetics people love swap and change with the times. Some are short-lived, some are super niche, and some stick around for a long, long time. Reflecting changing needs, attitudes, and preferences, the trends that stick are usually low key, adaptable, and inoffensive, just like those we’re talking about today.

1) Biophilia

Reminding us of the great outdoors, biophilic design never gets old. Whether we’re adding luscious leafy wallpaper, embracing florals, or simply filling the house with living plants, almost every house has a touch of nature, and it seems like they always will!

2) Artisanal touches

Unique items around the home make our houses our own. Handmade furniture, artistic decor, and expertly crafted tiles, pieces made by people impart soul and life into interiors. No matter how modern our world becomes, our love for the artisanal remains.

3) Green

In line with our pull towards nature, our connection to the colour green seems eternal. Reminding us of lush fields, flourishing forests, and tropical jungles, the colour green offers us a deep feeling of calm and harmony that we cling to even harder as the years pass.

4) Organic materials

There is no escaping our roots. We may live in comfort, removed from the elements, but where we find peace is in nature. Biophilic design and an attachment to green go hand in hand with our preference for organic materials. The cost may be prohibitive for some, but a love for things that at least look organic – be that rugged rock or grainy wood – is forever.
