Vibrant, playful, and full of life, the artwork of Hal Haines captures the spirit of summer, translating fun, adventure, and lazy hazy days with simple shapes and scenes.

Restricting his palette to include only primary and secondary colours, Haines’ work is lively but restrained. Familiar objects and clean patterns are represented in bold hues inspiring carefree feelings of nostalgia and joyful memories of childhood holidays.

Usually based near us in East Sussex, Haines’ art is inspired by nature and used as a tool to tell stories. Originally focusing on photography, the transition to ceramics came in 2022 when he created a miniature splashback for a doll’s house.

Immediately a hit, the splashback was created life-size in his own home and the tiles kept flowing. Designing patchworks in layouts of sixes, nines, eights, and fours, Haines tells a story and offers an injection of fun with functional art.

Custom designs, ceramic homeware, and non-ceramic art are also available.
