Working in a multitude of mediums, Austria-based artist Elisabeth Perez explores the overlooked, transforming the ordinary and unloved with bold and beautiful abstract shapes in vibrant, pigmented colours.

From trucks to market tarps, abandoned buildings to street walls, these geometric shapes are given unconventional homes. Taking inspiration from stones found on her adventures, Perez studies the angles, shadows, and details to create the sections that’ll feature a striking colour palette.

Similar compositions found in crinkled paper, architecture, and cracked floors, each offering an intriguing variation in form from which Perez designs her artworks. A few years ago her eye for angles also made an appearance upon our favourite medium – tile.

Decorating with spray paint, Perez’s tile creations display sharp triangular shapes in inviting colours, with compositions curated to form illusions, patchworks, and decorative displays. Hopefully there will be more in the future, or perhaps even the unusual rock-inspired pieces could be translated onto ceramic.
