Crafting Colour Charts with CEDIT and Formafantasma

The cancellation of Coverings and other major trade exhibitions is making effective communications with customers extremely difficult for brands around the world. To lend a helping hand to our specific industry, we have opened Diary of a Tile Addict up to known and trusted companies to ensure a steady flow of tile-related news continues throughout the uncertainty. These companies are offered a FREE post during this initial three month trial, covering April, May, and June 2020.

Formafantasma CEDIT Florim colourful tile collection

Florim brand CEDIT presents a unique celebration of colour in their collection Cromatica. Designed by Formafantasma, founded by Andrea Trimarchi and Simone Farresin who “view every project as an opportunity for study and the acquisition of new knowledge”, Cromatica is evidence of the designer’s mission statement of “Looking back to look forward”.

In the case of this collection, an exploration of Cedit’s past proved invaluable, with brilliant production technologies and a history of great designer collaborations. One particular designer, Ettore Sottsass (who started designing for Cedit in the late Seventies), was of special interest, as was a colour charts he produced towards the end of the Nineties.

Due to the seeminly intangible nature of colour, it is, Cromatica attempts to “bring the multiplicity of shades typical of a hand-crafted piece into a large-scale project”, presenting the power of colour to the masses.
