Marble Counter

Kitchen trends to look forward to in 2022

Next up in our 2022 trend rundown we have the heart of the home – the kitchen. Experts have selected the details, styles, colours, and vibes kitchens are expected to utilise next year, and we’ve gathered them below!

1. Splashback Slabs

A solid strip of marble is set to be preferred over a standard tiled splashback. Sleek, minimalist, and effortlessly luxurious, this gorgeous natural stone works with everything and stays looking good for years and years.

2. A natural vibe

Along with a love for marble comes a love for all things natural. Whether it’s the comforting shades of wood, the chic style of marble, or rich terracotta, organic elements help to ground a space and add a sense of tranquility.

3. Got to be green

Green is having a moment in the sun. Offering a sense of rejuvenation, freshness, and a connection with the outdoors, green is great anywhere, especially during times of uncertainty. But it’s the kitchen that’s set to benefit the most from our love of green with cabinets, walls, tiles, and worktops all favouring a verdant hue.

4. Playful colour

Our love for colour is not limited to green with bold colour pops, dramatic contrasts, and joyfully painted units all looking 2022 ready. Go dark, go pink, go orange and blue, do whatever you feel like and create a fun kitchen full of energy.

5. Glossy backsplash

For those not into the minimalist look, neutral decor, or marble in general, a gorgeous glossy backsplash could be the choice for you. Not only are they easy to clean and come in a large variety of styles and colours, glossy tiles help reflect light, offering the illusion of a larger, lighter space.

6. Character building

Antique furniture, cottagecore vibes, and retro features are pegged for getting ever more popular in the kitchen in 2022. Offering immediate charm and character, and with the freedom to include as much or as little old-school style, it’s no wonder people are loving it.

Honourable mentions

There’s plenty of talk of glass, especially when it comes to pantries and dividers, metallics may be falling into favour, and lighting may become the next big thing. Oven hoods will be getting a makeover, and cabinets will become mesh-fronted.
