In the lush landscape of South Africa’s Knysna dwells a crafty company with a keen sense for the beauty of handmade tiles.
What was formally Renwick Tiles – a company we’ve covered here after their move stateside – Akashic Tiles is the new name given by husband and wife team Sharon and Ryan Kensley after purchasing Renwick Tiles from friends and former founders of the company Craig and Ruth Renwick.
Emphasising and embracing the handmade ethos, Akashic Tiles has become a notable brand of influence in the design sphere, heading far outside of South Africa to locations as distant as Miami.
Each individual tile is made to order by hand with a stunningly unusual array textural creations forming their collections, as well classic subways and listellos. Their rich catalogue of colours can be applied to any design, with custom glazes available depending on project size.
