Clay Imports are coming in strong with another fabulous collaboration. Created by print and textile designer Shadé Akanbi, their new Daedream Series is a magical amalgam of African-inspired patterns presented with a contemporary twist.
In both a 6″ by 6″ relief and 8″ by 8″ printed pattern clay tile in matt and glossy glazes, Daedream offers options for all forms of interior and exterior design applications.
The handmade relief tiles are all made in house complete with intricate detail and 3D designs whilst the larger printed tiles repeat the motifs in a more durable format, suitable for use on floors and high traffic areas.
Every part of the collection – from glazes to patterns – are named after something significant to Nigerian and Black culture drawing influence from Shadé’s Nigerian-American upbringing.
The six relief glazes – Yam, Shoreline, Olive, Collard, Cowrie, and Ebony – and the six corresponding printed colours – Michelada, Crepe, Avocado, Tortuga, Vocho White, and Pitch Black – are rich and earthy, mixed and matched in pairs and trio’s across the four distinctive designs – Palmetto, Miti, Mudcloth, and Kente.
