We love nothing more than stumbling across tiles that cleverly combine function and beauty. Previous examples include the 3D printed succulent pot facade of the Cabin of 3D Printed Curiosities, tiles made to protect reefs and imitate mangroves, and the gorgeously colourful designs by Trix Newham of Lux Pottery. And today we add another wonder to the list – the playful loops of Dutch product designer Marieke Van Heesbeen.

Van Heesbeen’s collection of 150 by 150mm tiles offer a selection of effortlessly simple multipurpose hoops and rods that can be set straight into the wall. The four designs – Twister, Twin ring, Donut S, and Donut L – act as stylish holders for toilet paper, towels, and toothbrushes, or purely to serve as intriguing multidimensional decorative features.

The Donuts and Twin rings can be rotated to suit aesthetic preferences or to serve particular functions whilst Twister can be used alone or in multiples to create unique layouts or creatively solve storage puzzles.

Base red and Base yellow offer a pair of looks for each shape, with a stripe in a contrasting glaze finish and colour adding an effective touch of designer finesse.
