Dark Décor and Terrazzo Treats

This week Tile Addict is taking a look at ten stunning new ranges from Ceramics of Italy members that we are likely to see next week at Coverings.

First up are these wide panels (1,600 by 3,200mm or 63in by 126in) from ABK‘s new capsule collection Dark Edition, part of the stunning Wide&Style range.  The name hints at the unifying theme, darkness, and these six new ceramic wallpapers make use of this basis in their own individual ways.  The selection of this inky canvas works in stark contrast with the highly detailed and colourful designs.

A focus on floral shapes and animal figures works against the moody backdrop to create elegant décor pieces. The textural surfaces, plaster or canvas, were specifically designed to enhance the details and further strengthen the wallpaper look (and feel).

Another range exemplifying elegance is Newdecò from Ceramica Sant’Agostino.  Terrazzo is the focus here, drawing on inspiration from master craftsmen of old who believed in the beauty of simple, natural elements.  With this range this wonderful factory has built on tradition to achieve modern, timeless designs.

Using natural variation in marble, combined with a porcelain base, a wide variety of decorative elements have been formed to create the range. The evenly distributed particles on large format tiles (1,200 by 1,200mm or 48in by 48in) result in seamless surfaces, while the patchwork designs showcases terrazzo’s ability to be more than just a homogeneous covering.
