Half-Moon and Autumn Leaves

We’ve got two more mini-trends for you today, the ever-comforting Autumn Leaves and the hip and funky Half-Moons. As Tile of Spain named it one of their top trends for 2023, I kept my eyes peeled for Autumn Leaves all through Cevisama and it definitely didn’t disappoint.

Two fabulously frond-filled designs, City Crema Dec from Cristacer and Sassari-R from Vives both feature tropical flora in wonderfully earthy autumnal colours. Chocolate browns, ivory, stoney griege, and caramel all swirl together in stunning watercolour effects.

Amongst Mariner‘s many marvellous wallpaper-effect tiles were two decidedly warm designs – Morris and Vivaldi. Passion flowers, moonflowers, and a variety of other florals and leaves decorate Morris in an old school motif complete with canvas-effect background. Vivaldi is conversely simple, with aspen leaf shaped details floating all around in a comforting coffee brown.

A little mixing and matching of the autumnal aesthetic came from Mykonos‘ Aspen tiles and Concept Deco Garden Mix from Ceracasa. Both feature close ups and cropped depictions of various leaves, with Aspen featuring more tropical tiles and Concept Deco Garden Mix opting for foliage we’d find closer to home like fern and willow.

The decors of the Cotto range from Ribesalbes offered up leaf-like ghosts, adding faint beauty in earthy shades of brown, beige, and even a little Sea Moss.

Our final two autumn leaf tiles are the playfully cartoonish Stadium Dalia White from El Molino, and my favourite tile of the trend – Queen Stone from Dado Ceramica. The adorable squirrel adds so much charm to the simple sprig pattern, it’ll make you feel as cosy as an autumn night in by the fire.

And now for the second half of today’s mini-trends – we’re talking Half-Moons. These fun, funky shapes have popped up everywhere, proving popular for adding a touch of whimsy, and there were definitely a few half-moons to be found at Cevisama.

First up we’ve got an excellent Half-Moon/Toon Town Terrazzo hybrid in Croccante from Arcana. These fun terrazzo-effect tiles come in many muted tones with curvaceous half-moon decors adding an extra element to play around with.

Vives also offered up some terrazzo-effect half-moons with their multicolour variations from the large Stravaganza collection. Alongside calming shades of grey were also pops of orange, green, and blue, giving us a dynamic array of designs.

Elevating the Half-Moon to magisterial heights is Lined Spring Hexagon from Aparici. These gorgeous hexagonal tiles played around with the humble semi-circle in a way that transforms it into a work of art. A simple pairing of pink and green with hand-drawn stripes offers up the opportunity to create a space that is entirely unique.

Finally, we have two distinct designs doing Half-Moons their own way. Cool Circle from Mariner offers an entirely different approach to the stylish semi-circle, doubling up and mixing it up with texture and tone. Deco Noir Gloss from Ceracasa goes big with marble-effect, creating a number of patterns in contrasting black and white, playing with curves, stripes, spots, and of course, the wonderful Half-Moon.
