Multidimensional Mosaics from Menel Hüzmeli

Turkish artist Menel Hüzmeli has been producing mosaics for over 12 years in the Affan quarter of the Hatay province. In a country with a strong mosaic heritage, Hüzmeli’s works take enormous strides to stand alone, pioneering a three-dimensional style that literally stands out from the crowd.

Hüzmeli’s distinctive 3D mosaics feature on a range of items including key chains, ornaments, and of course, wall art. After many standard creations found admirers she decided to try something different, gifting her first 3D mosaic to her son. Despite the lengthier construction process the unique results led to further experimentation with the method.

Her works include a 3D mosaic of classic European landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and the Leaning Tower of Pisa, as well as many other unique textured designs. Seeking to share this method with the world she also teaches voluntarily and is, as far as she knows, the only artist in Turkey creating mosaics in such a way.
