The Wall Project Maria Ana Vasco Costa 3d tiles

Five inspiring surface solutions

There are some tile designs that are simply more than just tile. They transform a space, or they become art, or they have an uncanny ability to distract the eye. There are definitely more than we have selected here, but this is just a taster of five inspiring surface solutions.

1. Arazzi from Matteo Brioni

This is a truly curious creation. Clay panels take the place of tapestry with this reimagining of the classic decor item. Brioni has produced a series of modules that combine to create uniquely stunning wall art/surface covering.

2. The Wall Project by Maria Ana Vasco Costa

The beautiful talent of Maria Ana Vasco Costa is demonstrated in spades with her work on The Wall Project. Experimenting with colour, texture, and geometric shapes, Vasco Costa’s incredible handmade tiles are mixed and matched to create fantastically beautiful pieces of art.

3. Brac by Nathalie du Pasquier

We’re suckers for a cobogo, mostly because we don’t get enough of them where we’re from. That’s why Nathalie du Pasquier‘s recent creation Brac for Mutina is one of our inspiring surface solutions. Perfect to divide spaces both indoors and out, to create shade in gardens, verandas, and balconies, and to create magnificent features, these beautiful perforated bricks are just what the home needs.

4. Euridice by Giorgio Griffa for CEDIT

This is a curious, abstract inclusion in the list. These large Euridice panels designed by artist Giorgio Griffa for CEDIT tranforms his conceptual art into the tile equivalent, complete with jute and linen look surfaces, and abstract patterns.

5. Gem Glass from Sicis

These miraculous other-wordly looking pieces come from Sicis’ mysterious Gem Glass collection, a mix of magnified gemstones and alien planets. Each of the 13 designs take on a wholly unique character, perfect for a large room’s focal point, and to transform spaces into something from another dimension.
