Earlier this year we looked at Skate or Design, a company that transforms snapped skate boards into one-of-a-kind wall coverings. And today we have something a little similar. Art of Board is a lifestyle brand that takes the skate aesthetic and produces a variety of chic decors.
Material made from broken boards, unique interior spaces, skate-inspired chair designs, textile and wallpaper creations, clothes made from recycled plastic, and skateboards themselves have all come from Art of Board. But, as always, there is one thing in particular for the Tile Addict – tiles!
Both their Venic Beach Ceramic Tiles and their Santa Cruz Porcelain Collection offer up the skate aesthetic with scratched up surfaces and distinct designs. Collaborating with Imagine Tile and Daltile in 2014, Art of Board’s tile offerings showcased a huge range of high res imagery with vibrant colours and skate-style graphics.
The larger 12 by 24 inch tiles produced more of a ‘board’ look, using actual images of recycled skateboards collected via their I Ride I Recycle movement. The tiles themselves are made with pre-consumer recycled materials, contain no VOCs, and are commercially rated for indoor or outdoor use.
