Spreading awareness and upping the creative uses of Spanish ceramics each year, the Tile of Spain Awards offer up prizes in architecture and interior design to ensure tiles continue to thrive at the forefront of the design industry.
This year Ripoll- Tizón Estudio de Arquitectura were the winners of the Architecture category with their Ibiza social housing project that featured a fabulous array of traditional-style glazed stoneware. These seaside style tiles add character to the hallways and offer up an identity amongst empty spaces.
The winners of the Interior Design category were Allaround Lab and their minimalist warehouse conversion. Clean, white lines are emphasised in ceramics which decorate the floors and glad the furniture.
For the Final Degree Project, a prize awarded to architecture students, went to Marta Millanes Sánchez from Toledo School of Architecture for her project ‘Rampant architecture. The town and the home’. This project demonstrated the use ceramic tiles have for creating unique pathways throughout the home.
