Two years ago our very first Cyberspace Curiosities post covered the Abecedari Collection by Lluís Clotet for Huguet Mallorca, a range of 26 simplistic graphics depicting each letter of the alphabet ready to be mixed and matched and formed into words or geometric patterns.

But that’s not the only lettering offered by this innovative company. A modular font designed by Sascha Lobe fragments the letters into sections that can be rotated and manipulated to form letters and words in a wide range of creative ways.

A simple ‘U’ shape, a curve stretching from corner to corner, a straight line, dots, and circles, and a 13 additional bold black markings form the building blocks of every letter in the Roman alphabet and every number too.

Titled ‘Le Corbusier’, the font tiles were inspired by the architect’s penchant for modular design, freeing up the tile collection for use as signage, decoration, humour, or simply as motifs.

These unique tiles form one of the few marvellous creations from the Huguet Mallorca X Pentagram collaboration conceived by Astrid Stavro.
