Earlier this year we shared the fabulous FabBrick, a company dedicated to tackling the waste and pollution of two of the world’s largest manufacturing sectors – construction and fashion. But they aren’t the only ones focusing on fabric to find new ways to recycle.

Design and interior architecture agency Premices and co launched their recycled fibre collection in 2021 after 8 years of research and development. The material, named Pierreplume, utilises fibres collected from France and Belgium with mixtures containing a variety of textiles such as polyester, cotton, wool, and acrylic. To maintain the material’s properties fabrics containing silk, neoprene, or made from more than 2% elastic are not used.

This fibre mix makes up 70% of Pierreplume, creating a look that varies in shade and detail with a finish similar to that of natural stone. Five curated colours – White Limestone, White Marble, Granite Grey, Multico Grey, and Slate Blue – make up the standard range of organic looks with custom mixes available.

Five shapes/sizes – Standard (600 by 1000mm), Rectangle (600 by 250mm), Vertical (600 by 100mm), Maxi (2000 by 1000mm), and Diamond (554 by 320mm) – form their main selection with custom cuts offered for bespoke projects.

Pierreplume is made to functionally serve as acoustic panels, aesthetically serve as unusual art, and creatively serve as an unorthodox interior surface.
