Claudia Wieser

Influenced by her studies in painting at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich and a blacksmith apprenticeship at Bergmeister Kunstshmiede, the material range of Berlin-based artist Claudia Wieser is large and exciting.

Her practice spans traditional materials like pencil and paper, extends to softer canvases of delicate textiles, and solid works like sculpture, all unified by a distinctive geometric style that is both meticulously detailed and boldly expressive.

This signature aesthetic draws inspiration from Kandinsky, Paul Klee, and the Bauhaus movement, blending sharp angles and clean lines with the subtleties of brushstrokes and varieties of tactile surfaces.

Working with ceramics, bold swathes of colour stretch across large scale installations, hangings, and furniture items. These creations, often interwoven with mirrors and metals, are decorated with intense pigments and enticing glaze effects, commanding space and delighting the eye.

Wieser’s tiled creations showcase the beauty in simplicity and the fun to be had with ceramics. If you love her style, you’ll probably also love the works of Coletivo MUDA and Alexandre Mancini.
