This bespoke new panel system from Matteo Brioni makes marvelous use of clay. Company research into the use of clay and the artistic direction of Studio Irvine architect Marialaura Rossiell led to the creation of Arazzi – inspired by tapestries and re-imagined into a modern system.
Arazzi is designed as a modular system of panels that can be formed and arranged to create personal and unique compositions. These panels are formed with wood, on top of which the clay is warped and shaped to create a three dimensional, geometric final product. The company utilises a specific selection of clays and other natural aggregates which are chosen based on their suitability for the location they’ll be utilised in.
The raw earth mixture boasts hypoallergenic properties and the ability to regulate humidity and temperature. It emits no toxic fumes, is fire resistant and can absorb sounds and smells. As well as this, it is extremely versatile and can be combined with a multitude of materials and binders to add to its catalogue of benefits and also to create various visual and functional effects.
