We’re kicking off 2022 with one of our favourite annual traditions – Colour of the Year! This time we’re not just sticking to one or two companies, we’re trying to include all the Colour of the Year predictions out there. As usual we’ll be giving a psychological rundown of the colours’ effects, the curious reasons it’s been chosen, and of course, all the tiles we could find in that selected shade.
Starting off we have American paint company Benjamin Moore and their Colour of the Year October Mist 1495. Along with the tagline Make way for creativity, October Mist was chosen as a gateway shade, encouraging self-expression and the exploration of colour.
Embodying growth, health, and abundance, green acts as a strong harness from which to jump into change. The softness of October Mist helps it act like a neutral, offering both comfort and subtlety. Selected to imitate the silvery stem of a flower, it naturally branches out to connect with other colours and makes way for creativity to blossom.
As for the tile world, light sagey green is plentiful. Tipped to be the next big thing in 2020, and replacing millenial pink, the trend towards natural decor has definitely made sage green (or neo-mint) even more popular over the last few years. And here are the tiles to prove it!
But wait! There’s more…
Along with October Mist, Benjamin Moore have curated an entire 2022 palette. Mostly made up of semi neutral shades with hints of green, violet, and yellow, three bolder colours add depth -the darker Mysterious, richly toned Wild Flower, and moody Gloucester Sage. Each produce a similar gateway effect, inviting experimentation with colour without heading too far field.
