Nathalie Du Pasquier has a mind full of design delights. Despite being a founding member of the Italian design and architecture group the Memphis Group, Du Pasquier later opted for painting over design with a strong emphasis on objects and object landscapes as her subjects.

Now, working with Mutina since last year, she is becoming a fantastic source of tile inspiration. Her first contributions of BRIC and BRAC, covered by us here, added a range of perforated bricks to their collections. But Mattonelle Margherita is something entirely other.

A retro-feel colour palette and shape selection helps to “blend different aesthetic and formal means of expression”. To ensure the most vibrant finish on the satin-effect surface, extensive research was undertaken to find the best match for these glazed porcelain tiles.

The entire range is comprised of 41 hand-designed patterns, within this lives 27 graphics and 6 plain designs in a 205 by 205mm size, as well as 6 plain and 2 patterned tiles in a 101 by 205mm size. Each item can be fantastically mixed and matched with one another producing a huge number of design possibilities, combinations, and effects.
