The trends set to shine in 2025

Beyond the everlasting love of nature and organic materials come the more niche trends that gain momentum, whether they’re a lean towards a certain set of colours, choice motifs that make their mark, or an entirely new way to design, these 2025 trends offer a fresh set of styles to look out for in the coming year.

1) Folksy Features

Dainty florals, traditional motifs, paisley, intimate hand-crafted designs and furnishings, and a focus on folk features is expected to direct decoration in the coming year. Adding an artisanal air, a feel of familiarity, a sense of mysticism, and versatile features, folk art, materials, patterns, and details are finding their place.

2) Unexpected Red

Gaining momentum and recognition across social media, the unexpected red theory highlights a phenomenon whereby adding red in spaces it doesn’t seem to belong automatically pulls design together. 2025 is likely to put this to the test as more people pop red into their homes.

3) Reptile Motifs

It’s the year of the snake according to the Chinese Zodiac so related motifs and reptile style is likely to creep in slightly to design. From more subtle layouts and colour choices to dramatic snake skins and imagery, things might get snakey.

4) Rich Autumn

Across the Colour of the Year spectrum for 2025, a trend for rich, toned down shades of burgundy, aubergine, chocolate, and oxblood appeared. These deep, earthy colours are enticingly sophisticated and full of maturity, suiting other trends for this year perfectly.

5) Double Drenching

Like its predecessor Colour Drenching, Double Drenching soaks a room in a single colour, but an emphasis is placed in varying tones for a dynamic look with a big impact.

6) Contrasting Trim

From stitching to welts to dado rails and beyond, a contrasting trim elevates design from plain to upmarket, adding designer appeal, and infusing spaces with personality. Bleeding in from unexpected red and double drenching, this focus on contrasting trim can be as dramatic or low key as you choose.

7) Serotoninteriors

The name is a work in progress, but being a subtle departure from the mood-boosting trend designed to inspire joy – Dopamine Decor – this slightly more ‘mature’ take maintains hints of whimsy, adding playful elements to interiors but with more of a focus on relaxation and boosting serotonin.
